Abraham Lincoln ... (also a Republican ;-)

But it's not about fooling 'all' or 'some' of the people ... it's about fooling 'enough' of the people.

Now, as we all know, '47 percent' of 'the people' will believe whatever they're told by the right - who rely on the old confirmation bias. And one of the key things they're told is that the mainstream media is run by 'liberal elites' who cannot be trusted to tell the truth.

But, as you point out, the Republicans' strategy of creating a 'parallel universe' of lies, lies and more lies doesn't seem to have worked this time, doesn't seem to have been able to convince enough 'new believers' to have tipped the scales in the Republicans' favour.

Massive amounts were expended during the campaign on spreading those Republican lies, but perhaps not enough have been spent - yet. After all, Joseph Goebbels maintained that, 'when one lies, one should lie big, and stick to it' (pace Mike Godwin ;-)

Madeyehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02593933575568389288noreply@blogger.com
