You can no longer look up what percentage of black, white, asian, etc. attend their school, because they are all 0%. While "Unknown race" is now 100%.

They seem to be sincere, just based on the comments made by white supremacists, but I guess you would have to be African American and actually go there to know for sure.

And thanks for those links, including the last one, "political correctness on campus".Lost Motorcyclisthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08873504561959138792noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2156536327610779049.post-51910285355857344242010-01-06T09:21:28.823-05:002010-01-06T09:21:28.823-05:00According to FIRE's website, their mission is ...According to FIRE's website, their mission is 'to defend and sustain individual rights at America's increasingly repressive and partisan colleges and universities.'

Although 'individual rights' are unquestionably important, that mission statement, with its 'increasingly repressive and partisan,' is somewhat contentious.

My impression is that there definitely have been, in some cases, excesses of 'political correctness' in the academic setting.

However, in assessing an organization such as FIRE, one should not only review the cases they have taken on, but also their sources of funding.

I don't have the time to do a detailed cross-match between American Christian universities and the cases FIRE has taken on. But a quick scan of those two lists suggests that Christian colleges, despite their numbers and generally 'repressive' policies, seem to be relatively immune.

An instance that springs readily to mind is that of Bob Jones University with its long tradition of racism, policies that were still in effect until after FIRE was founded.

By the same token, reviewing the cases FIRE has intervened in can be quite a boring process. Most of those cases are hardly earth-shaking, often simply being quibbles about who gets to lead religious groups on campus.

Of course, campus administrators often have to deal with conflicting pressures and cannot always please everyone. However, recent studies indicate political bias and 'repression' are not nearly the problem conservatives make it out to be.Madeyehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02593933575568389288noreply@blogger.com
